Class Update 2020-21

Due to the difficulty in ensuring physical distancing in our small studio, we have decided to postpone both our fall and winter classes in 2020-21. We hope to be able to offer classes again in the spring of 2021 and will provide a further update by the middle of March.

We regret any disappointment this may cause, but feel it is a necessary precaution at this time. If you have questions or concerns please contact Barb at bajmacdonald@gmail.com.

2020 Fall Classes Postponed

Due to the difficulty in ensuring physical distancing in our small studio, we have decided to postpone our usual session of pottery classes in the fall of 2020. We hope that we will be able to offer classes again in January 2021 and will provide a further update by the end of November.

We regret any disappointment this may cause but feel this is a necessary precaution to keep people safe. If you have questions or concerns please contact Barb at bajmacdonald@gmail.com.

PEI Potters Studio Reopening on June 5 with Restricted Access

We are very pleased to announce that, as part of Phase 3 of Renew PEI, our little studio is reopening with restricted access as of June 5! We have an operational plan in place, approved by the City of Charlottetown, which meets the requirements for physical distancing, enhanced cleaning and other measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. A maximum of 5 people will be allowed in the studio at any one time and work spaces in the main studio room have been assigned to ensure everyone can be 2 metres apart at all times.

Our spring classes were cancelled and the next session will not be held until at least the fall. We will make a decision in mid-August about whether or not we can go ahead with fall classes. Students who were in the winter class session that had to be cancelled part way through may be able to come in to finish their pieces--we will be in touch to make arrangements.

If you have any questions, please contact Barb at bajmacdonald@gmail.com.

PEI Potters Studio closed until further notice

In response to public health concerns about COVID-19 and the decision by the City of Charlottetown to close all Parks and Recreation facilities and programs until further notice, the PEI Potters Studio is now closed to members and students. We will provide further updates as they become available.

Also, the spring class session planned to begin in mid-April has been cancelled and the next session will be held in September.  For information please contact Barb at bajmacdonald@gmail.com.

Spring Class Session CANCELLED

The spring session of pottery classes at the PEI Potters Studio in Victoria Park, Charlottetown will begin in April, 2020.

Perfect for beginners as well as those with previous experience, classes are taught by professional Island potters and are designed to be fun as well as educational. Classes are small in size (a maximum of 8) and relaxed and informal in style. The class covers the basics of clay preparation, wheel-throwing techniques, and glazing and decoration. Hand-building techniques can also be explored depending on interest. A great way to relieve stress and enhance creativity while learning a new skill, participants will have the opportunity to create their own pieces from start to finish.

Adult beginners classes will be offered on Mondays or Tuesdays (choose one) from 6:30 to 9:30 pm beginning the week of April 13 for a 10 week period. The cost is $225, which includes a 20 lb block of clay.

Registration is online and is first come first serve. It will open on Monday, March 30 at 9 am. For more information please contact Barb at bajmacdonald@gmail.com.
